Eligibility Criteria

  2. Be a twelfth preferred skip.
  3. Must have a typing speed of 80 words/minute in English and 60 words/minute in Hindi.
  4. Must have the age between 18-30.

*Age limit relaxation is given to SC/ST/PwD candidates.

SSC Stenographer Selection Process

The selection process of stenographer level ‘C’ and ‘D’ is divided into two stages. These are as follows:

Stage 1: Computer-based test (CBT)

The CBT is a test held on computers which consists of 100 questions. which can also be divided into 3 sections.

General knowledge [30 questions]

English [30 questions]

Hindi [40 questions]

The CBT is generally 1-hour test. The minimal qualifying marks for the CBT are 60% for general category candidates and 50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Stage 2: Skill test

The skill test is evaluated by the representatives of SSC. It is a dictation and transcription test. The dictation will be in English or Hindi, depending on the language selected by the candidate. 

Skill test can be of 30 minutes. The minimum qualifying marks for the Skill Test are 40% for popular class applicants and 35% for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

After all tests top candidates according to the number of seats vacant are being selected. And then recruited.
